Whilst there is an undoubted convenience to digital music there is also something missing from this distribution form. Back in the day owning a record was a cultural experience that was shared by those around you – this was particularly true of owing albums. An album crafted a narrative that went beyond the music and that narrative was part of a collective experience shared by those who were listening to the music with you. Album covers were works of art as evidenced by the fold out from Springsteen’s Born to Run. Which was believe it or not was released 43 years ago……where does the time go…..
