IT WAS YEAR 11 for me. The school play auditions were on.
I desperately wanted the role of the hippie drug addict. I’d arrived, dressed in flower power glory, absolutely sure I’d nail the role.
I auditioned brilliantly… really, if you had have been there, you would have thought I was as high as a kite!
But… what’s that I see?
Jacinta, my rival, in tears in front of the drama teacher. Oh damn, the drama teacher’s giving her a HUG!
What?
Next minute I knew, Jacinta had robbed me of the role I thought was mine. All because of a pathetic flurry of tears.
What the heck?
Yes… sometimes it’s unfair.
Sometimes you don’t get what you expect or deserve.
I can tell you one thing for sure – Jacinta wouldn’t have made it as a trader.
The markets can crush your spirits, despite your desperate desire to trade like a champion.
I can tell you though… if you quit at that point, you’ll never know what could have been. You can cry, rail against the unfairness of it all… and throw a tantrum. These tactics might get you the acting role you’re after, but by heck, they won’t help you as a trader.
So get your emotions under control.
You aim is to be calm, rational and logical.
It’s the ONLY ways you’ll beat the markets at their own game.
Next time you feel like cracking it because you’re struggling with trading, realise that you’ve just got to get better at ducking when the market starts to fling poo in your direction.
