In his work life, he preferred solitude and kept his professional associations to a minimum. Robert Fano, a later collaborator of Shannon, said, “He was not someone who would listen to other people about what to work on.” One mark of this, some observed, was how few of Shannon’s papers were coauthored……

Extraordinary genius.
Just …… wow…..amazing. Two things fascinate me about this – one is the obvious intelligence/genius of the man but the second is that it sounds like he was possessed by a force almost beyond his control to continue working on his ideas and thoughts/ concepts – the ideas have hold of him, the pursuit of the puzzle. Love that bit.
