One of the joys if you can call it that of being quarantined are long sessions in the gym at home and the rediscovered joy of actually listening to an entire album as opposed to jumping from song to song. Whilst clanging and banging yesterday I dropped Springsteen’s 1975 (fark that long ago) classic album Born to Run onto the playlist, The only weakness of the album is it doesn’t contain the haunting The River which appeared on the 1980 album of the same name which I contend is Springsteen’s best song ever. Both albums showcase an artist at the height of their powers.
Thanks
So true. The River still his best. The lyrics sublime and the harmonica on the live version I can’t get enough of.
I have been enjoying your characteristic dry wit especially on the current hysteria and the media’s hyperbolic rants that has hindered any possibility of rational discourse. I guess the media bias is needed to balance Trump’s mania!
Amen. This album was played on my turntable most days during my university days. So much good stuff. Thanks Chris for drawing my attention back to it. Time to reminisce. How good is Clarence Clemons.
Best Springsteen song ever – Hungry Heart
Just saying….
