Well, perhaps, but I would say it is hard to tease the two apart. How does one know before the fact they have talent? Once the inkling of success (however defined) is experienced hard work has already been applied, driven by the desire for success.
What is talent anyway?
I would also add that luck has its place. Mind you, I believe luck is often self-generated; the ability to recognise and seize opportunities. Is luck therefore just another form of talent – an inherent paradigm for approaching the world…? Or can it be learnt? To take it further, the ability to reflect and then modulate behaviour is a trait and often difficult to learn. Can this then be part of the talent spectrum also; another inherent ability contributing to success.
This could go on-and-on for ages…!
Everything is entwined.
There are many variables and lacking in any will influence outcome, and, having them all is still no guarantee of anything.
