I received a comment on Facebook, and thought you might like to see the reply Louise and I put together to explain our position:
Here’s what was said:
I can’t afford a mentor. Everyone just wants to sell me this and sell me that. If people can make that much money trading, surely helping others they would do for free. The only ones that seem to be making any bloody money is those who are selling this strategy or that, or this “”secret” or that with the premise of making a living from trading. How wrong am I?? As I just seem to be losing money after 3 f&*$ing years.
PS apologies for the rant but I am really fed up now. It seems like everybody is making money and I am losing it. I have a strategy, I stick to it, I accept some trades will be losers, but everything I do goes wrong.
Here is Louise’s and my reply:
Hi XXXX,
This is a question that I hear often.
However, it sounds as if your anger is not some much at people who want to teach you something – but rather at yourself for not yet being an effective trader. (Keeping in mind that sometimes this goal takes many, many years – so I do understand your frustration).
I know you weren’t personally directing this towards me Mark, but since this is on my Facebook thingy, I would like a chance to address some of the issues you’ve raised – as I feel it’s important for me to express.
Many times in the past both my business partner and I have taught people for free. Chris Tate has even given people his trading system and walked them through how it works and not one of them followed his advice and they are still going around in circles. Yet strangely enough people in the Mentor Program have been given the same guidance and are flying. This happened because people who want things for free have no skin in the game – not having suffered in some way to obtain this knowledge they do not value it.
Is it that you’re concerned that you’re paying money for systems that you feel may not work? If that’s the case, then I definitely agree with you. It’s important to seek proof – which is why we have audited results on our website: https://www.tradinggame.com.au/risks/ Also, that is why we show pages and pages of Rave Reviews on our site to show there are people who have followed our systems that have achieved great success trading. You’re welcome to look at: https://www.tradinggame.com.au/rave-reviews/ and the 9 Rave Reviews pages showing hundreds of traders that we’ve trained. We don’t know of anyone else in our industry (or frankly in any other industry) who has so many glowing, results oriented, testimonials on their website.
Courtesy of the Mentor Program – I have done business with many tremendously successful people and not once have I asked them to do anything for free for me. I could have adopted the attitude that they are successful so they should do work for me for free but that would be enormously disrespectful to them and would not acknowledge the fact that they have worked very hard and sacrificed a great deal to be successful.
I really like this quote: “There’s a difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested in doing something, you only do it when it’s convenient. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results” Kenneth Blanchard
It seems to me that you need to decide whether you are interested in something or committed to it. We are not merely interested in our Mentorees – we are committed to them as they can attest to.
It is really important to do your research. I definitely agree. No-one’s going to do it for you because regardless of what all the banking and insurance advertising tells you, no-one cares more about your money than you do.
If it doesn’t cost you money, time, affection, anything – you won’t value it. I’m tired of wanting it more for others than they want it for themselves, and that’s why I ask that people have some skin in the game so they have some chance of taking it seriously.
Personally, I have paid multiple thousands of dollars in getting Mentors to mentor me, and I don’t begrudge them a single cent. They have saved me hundreds of thousands of dollars in losses, and made me millions.
I would add:
“but everything I do goes wrong” – then it’s time for you to change. Time to change your constricted relationship with money (e.g.“I can’t afford a mentor”) and time to change the way you react to matters that do not go your way. Assuming that your strategy has been tested to be long term profit sound – these are the underlying psychological reasons as to why you fail. Change however is hard because it is so unfamiliar.
This person has commented on your Facebook account because unconsciously they are sniffing something genuine from out of the wilderness of “Trading Education”. I hope that for the sake of their trading future they manage to redirect the energy of their blame and utilise it by following your suggestions regarding sniffing you out further.
