I note that all the people in this study were middle income/ middle status or better.
My understanding is that research shows that there is an income level above which money has little correlation with happiness, but below that there is a definite correlation between income and reported happiness.

Once basic needs are met money has little impact upon happiness. From memory I believe that figure is about 72k – beyond that figure happiness seems to be a function of social not financial constraints.
