Spot on, James. Also reminds me of The Great Depression in a sense because even with such a screwed economy people still sought out entertainment. At some point, as in nature, life breaks through.
There is another view and it is probably more relevant. Your age at these major turning points. Looking at historical points and utilising hindsight bias may be comforting. But back in those days it took a lot longer to exit positions. And if you were 65 when these major downturns occurred, was your life expectancy sufficient to weather the 10 to 15 years of recovery. Hopefully every ones trading plan has an exit strategy so that we don’t have to endure what our older generations did.
