Nicole O one of our new mentorees dropped this onto the forum yesterday – it is worth a read since its application is universal irrespective of what change you are trying to make.
Are The People Around You Killing Your Ambition?
Have you ever shared your desire to transform your life through renovating and been met with a rather cynical response?
I’ll bet you have had the risks of renovating recited with graphic detail many times.
And of those people who have administered this advice so liberally, how many of them are living their dreams?
I remember being about to buy a property when I was severely cautioned by a close friend about the “huge risk” I was exposing my family to. I thought about it and did it anyway. After all if my family was OK with it, so was I.
It did however sow seeds of doubt that I found hard to shake. In time I realised that she meant no harm; she was merely reflecting her own fears.
I have never been a fan of Jim Carrey but he addressed this topic well in a speech when he said:
“So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality, I learned many great lessons from my father, not the least of which, was that you can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.”
Mindset underpins achievement and it is important to protect yourself from the negativity & criticism or it will eat away at you and become a self fulfilling prophesy.

Thanks Chris and Nicole,
I love the Jim Carrey quote.

Thanks Chris for sharing Nicole’s post.
Yes it sure does take effort to keep positive about almost everything we do.

I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments expressed but I’m a little confused about the concept of transforming myself by tiling the bathroom 😉
