I am a relative newcomer to social media as such I find it a fascinating ecosystem for self-aggrandisement ( a favourite of doctors and strength coaches) outright lying ( system developers who have never had a drawdown and 14 years olds who claim they can squat 300kg) and general nonsense of a motivational nature. I find the motivational ones intriguing since they generally take the form of a quote accompanied by a picture of someone rolling down Mount Everest on one testicle. The quotes are the sort you would find on a calendar or the back of a toilet door.
However, the other day whilst listening to something totally unrelated to trading I heard the following –
“The unconscious self is the real genius. Your breathing goes wrong the moment your conscious self meddles with it.” George Bernard Shaw. From Maxims for Revolutionaries
I paraphrased this as your breathing works perfectly well until you start to think about. Intriguingly trading seems to work the same way.

I wholeheartedly agree. I find even the smallest ambiguity in my trading plan creates doubt and second guessing and try to re-write that tiny bit so that my actions remain consistent. It’s only ever rare and tiny things these days thankfully that probably wouldn’t make much difference anyway but I still feel better when they are gone.
David Goggins and Nature is Metal are the only ones that prevent me from going dark on social media.
…accompanied by a picture of someone rolling down Mount Everest on one testicle…
I am totally stealing this.
