I was sent an email during the month. Here is a direct quote:
“It’s nice that you’re trying to show women how it’s done, but it’s clear you’ve been riding on Chris Tate’s coat-tails for years. He’s the brains behind the operation.”
Keep in mind that this is from a person I’ve never met, has never seen me present and in no way is privvy to my trading results.
Hmmm…
Strangely, in this day of equality – I find that people still under-estimate me – perhaps because I’m a woman.
Actually – the more I think about it, it’s downright bizarre!
After reading the email, initially I felt my blood boil. Then I was reminded of Donald Trump’s advice – “it’s often to your advantage to be under-estimated”. Comforting to know. Ronald Reagan was of the same opinion.
I’ve given up trying to prove myself to people I don’t care about. It no longer interests me. Free from this burden, I find I’m more productive than ever, achieving the goals that I really care about achieving. One of those goals is to help members of my Mentor Program achieve what is truly important to them. This brings me shivery goose-bumps of pleasure. It is the reason behind my passion in helping people over-come their perceived barriers.
The markets don’t care about your background, your gender or your age. It’s one of the only platforms in the world that offers you a limitless stage to refine your art. No judgement will come your way. No criticism because you’re gay or gray. A true level playing field.
I refuse to be judged because of a characteristic that I cannot change.
I’m all for striving to be better. Just try to change the things that you can change. The things you can’t, learn to live with, or ignore.
Works for me.
Get your mindset in the right place and the magnetic pleasures of success are yours for the taking. Let them under-estimate you. Let them be shocked when you whip their butt! Feels good to know that you have all it takes to be a fantastic trader. You might just need someone to boost you up and give you the confidence to triumph.
“….. but it’s clear you’ve been riding on Chris Tate’s coat-tails for years. He’s the brains behind the operation.”
Sometimes people just have a death wish don’t they. 😉
Lousie,
I am not surprised by the comment as I have found in this world today people are more intelligent but very, very ignorant and rude.
John, my husband, and I both met you and Chris Tate many years ago at DaytraderHQ here in Adelaide when we first considered trading. We were not impressed with the ‘sales’ mindset of the company however we were lucky enough to hear Chris explain trading and systems one evening and his fantastic presentation gave us mere mortals the information to comprehend at the time.
It was in later months that we met you here in Adelaide at a Sunday morning forum. Your first book, The Secret of Candlestick Charting we bought at the time. We were novices and any information was fantastic in those days. We still have your book in our library if trading secrets along with Chris Tate’s Taking the Bear and The Art of Trading.
In my profession I have found that I am either ‘lucky’ or have remarkable centres of influence attributing to my success. It gets back to the fact that as women we have to work harder and smarter to achieve recognition and even then there is always some ignorant male or female, (usually male species), that lack their own self esteem and confidence that have to find remarkable hard working intelligent Degree Qualified women to criticise.
John trades very differently to me and I still trade. Trading is part of our lives.
Keep your mindset, hold strong and let this ignorant imbecile wash over.
I have written this to give you support as I have found that even though you are strong and free of judgement it is also nice to see a confidence boost email from another woman that respects your intellect and passion for trading.
Best regards,
Marcia Walsh
