Drawdown is inevitable for traders – some idiots believe it is possible to trade without a period of drawdown. But they live in a different world to the rest of us grown ups. What is foremost is your response to drawdown and your ability to analyse what has happened and to keep going.
There is no magic in trading there is merely durability.
Thanks CT.
Very true the comment at the end – “seen this before, have climbed out before” just have to get through a couple to know it.
I am intrigued by the process of system evaluation. Your lesson here is to trust your system and accept drawdowns as a natural process.
But, Chris, I have a question, which is, what evaluation parameters are useful in the process of studying a system to discern its integrity, notwithstanding everything you have said in your presentation? Sooner or later one must evaluate a system, if only to assess whether it is behaving optimally, regardless of drawdown. Or maybe this would make a good topic for one of your future presentatons. I would be interested.
Hi Bill
I will cover these points when I do a video on my comparison between this year and last years results for this system.
