Traders are an interesting bunch in that they believe themselves to calm, rational and disciplined and that through the application of this cold logic they see the world as it actually is. If truth be told traders are among the most gullible, least logical and certainly least scientific/innumerate group I have come across. Consider the quote below which appeared on my LinkedIn feed this morning.
If I were to take this exact quote change a few words and put a picture of a young girl doing yoga next to it as if it had come from a self-help guide and showed it to traders they would state that it was a load of bullshit. But put a few trading related words in there and they are all over it as if it were gospel because it speaks to their lack of critical thinking in much the same way people rabbiting on about fundamental analysis does. A good story (read myth) beats harsh reality any day
