So they’re just other peoples portfolios that you can invest in or trade?
They are actually mostly artificial benchmarks that cannot be traded unless they are replicated by an ETF. The next question would be is the ETF market driving a spike in indices as opposed to a genuine need to generate this sort of information.
I’ve sometimes wondered what the purpose of all those indices are!
