The World Is Full Of Morons

Have you ever wondered why the world is like it is. I have to admit I used to ponder this question all the time but then I spent more time with people and began to realise that the majority of people are functional morons barely able to muster enough cognitive ability to wipe their own arses. Then the internet and social media came along and this view was confirmed. The other day I came across the image below that some fucktard has put on the internet and then some bigger fucktard brought to my attention -it is an image that is so offensive in its stupidity and cretin like interpretation of the world that it does need a response.

I know a fair bit about cancer, both professionally from a previous life and personally from experience. I also know a lot of people who work in the field either as researchers or clinical practitioners.  I want to address the logical fallacies in this image. It assumes that all cancers are the same entity – it refers to cancer as a homogeneous population of diseases when they are clearly distinct diseases with very distinct modalities. However, the error is even more egregious since by implication it assumes that a given cancer such as breast, bowel or skin cancer is a single entity when genetically each cancer is made up of a sub group of cancers. This is in part why it is such a bastard of a disease to treat. Your average internet natural health dickhead could be forgiven for making this mistake since most pundits of natural health or so called alternative medicine would have failed high school biology and they certainly wouldn’t be smart enough to read a scientific journal.

The great moral fallacy of this image is that it implies that everyone who works in the field of cancer be they oncologist, nurse, surgeon, scientist, pathologist or pharmacist knows what the cure for cancer is but they just dont want to tell you because to do so  would cut their income. Pause and think about the implication of this – everyone involved in cancer research or treatment knows how to cure cancer but they dont want to tell you. Anyone who has worked in the field or watch clinicians struggle with intractable cancers knows how wrong and how appalling this statement is. If oncologists knew the answer to how to cure cancer why would there be an enormous burnout rate within the profession and why when surveyed would cancer clinicians cite a feeling of failure and hopelessness as the number one cause of their distress.

The natural response of the internet dickhead would be to say its big pharma holding back the secret but this again reflects a complete lack of understanding of how research works. Biomedical research is conducted within hospitals and universities – it is not conducted in some super secret complex in the Arctic were evil researchers plot how to exploit the sick and dying. Every trial I have ever been involved with required the input of countless people in hospitals, any of who could have blabbed about the magic cure being held back from the world.

The great problem with people who believe this sort of thing is that they exist among us. We dont have gulags for dickheads other than certain suburbs which they are actually able to leave whenever they want. The average IQ of the population and our generally level of moral advancement would be much higher if we sterilised the people who propagated this sort of thing and then confined them to camps where they could live out the rest of their meaningless somewhat confused lives without annoying the rest of us.
